Civil Service Orientation: Basics of Prelims, Mains & Interview

On 30th July 2025, an insightful orientation session was conducted by Mr. Naseeb Sameer, UPSC Prelims and Mains Expert, from LEAD IAS. The session focused on clarifying key aspects of the UPSC examination, mainly the question paper pattern, structure and effective strategies for approaching the preliminary examination, mains and interview.
LEAD IAS: Civil Service Orientation Day and Vedic Age

Drawing on his experience mentoring several successful candidates, Dr. Anuroop Sunny emphasized the importance of maintaining a global outlook while remaining motivated throughout the preparation process. He encouraged students to develop systematic study habits, follow a clear plan, and become exam-oriented.
Mr. Sijin Gopi provided a detailed overview of the four General Studies papers in the UPSC Civil Service Examination, along with their key subjects, helping students understand the structure and areas of focus for their preparation. He then delivered an in-depth discussion on Pre-History and the Indus Valley Civilization, explaining the evolution of human societies, archaeological discoveries, and the socio-cultural developments of early civilizations.
Hybrid Class Report
BCM College, in collaboration with LEAD IAS, conducts structured library sessions every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These sessions offer organized support to students preparing for the UPSC examination through curated study materials and expert mentorship by a Mentor from LEAD IAS.
Furthermore, hostel students spend an hour in personal study for LEAD from 6 pm to 7:30 pm in the library under the guidance of the mentor, allowing them to focus on self-study while benefiting from expert support.

An Orientation Session “Indian Civil Service”
Dr. Anuroop Sunny led an orientation session “Indian Civil Service: The Profession, Exam and Preparation” for the teachers at BCM College. He mentioned the advantages that a college student can have if she starts preparing during her college days along with studying their curriculum. It will help to simplify the learning process, along with timely completion of general studies syllabus of UPSC. It will also help students to pick up the habit of newspaper reading. The importance of skills like curiosity, note- making, multidimensional thinking and opinion formation during college days were explained. The teachers actively participated in the questionnaire session that followed asking about eligibility, age limits and specific services offered by the UPSC exam. The session concluded by the speaker appreciating the effort of BCM College in creating a learning ecosystem for the students. The Principal, Prof.( Dr). K .V. Thomas thanked LEAD IAS Academy for the joint venture with BCM in shaping the destiny of our society and nation.
