The Youth Innovation Programme (YIP) is designed to nurture and empower young minds across Kerala to address real-world challenges through research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The program aims to create an ecosystem that identifies talented youth, mentors them, and connects them with research and partner institutions, offering scholarships, guidance, and career-building opportunities around innovative ideas.

YIP emphasizes practical problem-solving, innovation incubation, and socially relevant entrepreneurship, enabling students to transform ideas into impactful solutions with sustainable business models.

Building Skills for Real-World Careers

Objectives

Identify & Nurture Talent: Spot students with innovative potential and provide structured mentorship.
Research & Innovation: Facilitate access to research institutions and partner organizations for hands-on learning.
Career Development: Support students in building careers around their innovations, with guidance, incubation, and scholarships.
Ecosystem Building: Leverage ICT-based systems to process ideas, link students with academia, industry, investors, and civil society.
Promote Social Impact: Encourage innovations that address real-life challenges and create social value.

Programme Highlights

Target Audience: Students from class 8 and above across Kerala.
Integration with ASAP: Since 2021, YIP has been integrated with the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), expanding the reach and scope of the initiative.
Structured Innovation Challenge: Organized in three phases, covering 20 diverse sectors, open to student groups and researchers across the state.
Mentorship & Support: Participants receive expert guidance, training, and resources to refine ideas and develop feasible solutions.
Scholarships & Opportunities: Financial and institutional support is provided to promising innovators for one-year incubation and career development.

Provides hands-on exposure to research, innovation, and entrepreneurial practices.
Promotes collaboration between students, academia, and industry.
