Statistics Department

Department of Statistics is part the Bishop Chulaparambil Memorial College since the inception of the college. The department is very active in the college inspite the fact that it does not have core or main students. The department offers complementary Statistics courses for BSc Mathematics programme in addition to the elective papers for III and IV Semesters of MSc Mathematics programme. In addition to this, the department extends support to the PG projects in other disciplines. The department in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell is conducting a certificate course in Research Methodology and Statistical Data Analysis.

Department is proud to say that every year we have students opting for MSc Statistics programme after undergoing BSc Mathematics course here. The department adopts innovative teaching methods to instil an interest in Statistics as a subject among students. Some of the projects guided by the faculty members of the department are

  1.     Optimal     Number of pages in the question booklet for UG programmes of Mahatma     Gandhi University
  2.     Integer     Programming Modelling for developing a cost optimal breakfast
  3.     Application     of Markov Chains in cage opening problem
  4.     Markov     Chain Modelling and Collatz Conjecture

Further, the department undertakes studies related to Social Sciences research problems, the reports of which are expected to be published soon. The department is also entrusted with activities related to the data collection activities of other official statistics.

The department has been guided by eminent and hard working faculty members in the past and they all have put their whole hearted effort in ensuring that the Department of Statistics is committed to the all-round development of the College.

It is with much gratitude and pride that we remember Sr. Lucia who served the College in the capacity of the Vice Principal for long period. We salute all the former faculty members.
